Dr. Abiola Oke is currently the Secretary General of the African Association of Insect Scientists (AAIS) with its headquarters in Nairobi, Kenya. She holds a PhD in Pest Management from Federal University of Technology, Akure, Nigeria. She is Leader, Nigeria Tuta absoluta IPM programme, National Horticultural Research Institute NIHORT, Ibadan and National Consultant: Food and Agriculture Organization of the United Nations (FAO) Project (TCP/NIR/3601) Developing IPM and bio-rational solution for Tuta absoluta containment/control in Nigeria. She has had the opportunity to study the molecular diversity of pawpaw mealybug: Paracoccus marginatus as a Visiting Researcher, Virology and Molecular Diagnostics Unit, International Institute for Tropical Agriculture, IITA, Ibadan. She has also had opportunity to lecture a course: Food Security and the Developing World as a Visiting Lecturer, Centre for Sustainable Livelihoods, Department of Food Business and Development, University College Cork, Ireland. She developed an extraction chamber for aqueous extraction of bio-pesticides for bio-rational control of insect pests in Nigeria.
